Mail  and Phone Order Businesses

If you want to process credit cards for Internet, telephone, or mail order transactions, you'll need a special merchant account specifically designed for that purpose. Because you never take physical possession of a credit card so that you can swipe it through a magnetic strip reader, both Visa and MasterCard use different criteria for evaluating risk and have different fee structures for card-not-present transactions.

Total Merchant Services can help you easily establish such a merchant account and the entire process will take just minutes of your time and you'll be up and running in a matter of days.

The following tour is setup in a specific order to help you put together the right combination of point-of-sale (POS) terminal equipment, and services that best meet your needs.  At the end, you'll be ready to apply online using our online application, or you will be ready to speak with an authorized Total Merchant Services sales consultant.   Click on the arrow to continue and then the "next" button that follows on each page.

FAQs

What is a merchant account?

A merchant account is an agreement between you (the merchant) and a processing organization like TMS/Global Payments for the clearing and settlement of credit card transactions. A merchant account is NOT a bank account. It does not carry a balance and you do not deposit or withdraw from it. Some processing companies will require you to setup a bank account with their bank, however TMS does not require this. All funds are directly transferred to the checking account of your choice that you so designate on your application.
